Little is home!
Turns out that she had a kidney infection and after some fluids and an antibiotic, she is feeling much better.

Little
Poor Little has not been feeling well the past few days, so Ella and I took her to the vet this morning. They're not sure exactly what is wrong (her kidney was enlarged and it could be an infection), but she was really dehydrated and required an IV. She will be staying at the pet hospital for a few days.
This was taken with my iPhone at the vets.

3 Months
Boy boy is three months old today! Good thing he is so darn cute because he is a lot of work. Two nights ago was indeed a fluke, he was up every two hours for me last night. I don't believe in letting a baby 'cry it out' or ignoring them while they scream, but I keep telling him, there's a storm a comin'.
Ella made him the party hat he is wearing, Craig says he looks like the pope.
Here is Ella at the same age. We think he is way behind her in terms of development, but we must remember that neurologically he is almost a month younger because he was born three weeks early.

Last night
Well, the stars aligned last night and Evan slept for five hours. That is his longest stretch EVER. We are fairly certain that it was just a fluke... Ella says, "what's a fluke?" I said, your brother sleeping, that's a fluke.

I love the internet.
The kiddos and I were watching Playhouse Disney this morning and a train song really caught my attention. I thought, wow, that sounds really cool, they should have more songs like that.
Then I thought (which took me a few minutes due to lack of oxygen to the brain thanks to sleep deprivation)... I should check Playhouse Disney online. And then I thought again... I wonder if it's on iTunes?
Sure enough there is an entire album of really fun songs and Ella LOVES them. She was dancing around and remarked, "whoa, I'm really wound up!" LOL
Within 15 minutes of my initial thought, I had the album purchased, downloaded and burned to CD. For only $9.99. Unbelievable.
Don't have an account with iTunes?? Get with it people, it's 2008.

Evan is starting to exhibit the slightest control over his flapping arms, and last night he even managed to find his finger and suck it while mom was holding him. We are praying that he finds his fingers or thumb so that he can self-soothe without that paci. The paci gets lost and falls out at night, fingers are always with you.
This morning he was all smiles.
I think he was saying, "I love you momma!!"
And here is little miss grown-up with her new teeth coming in.

Hope
Hope is a dangerous thing, my friend.
If you can tell me what movie that line is from, I will pay you $5 the next time I see you. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
After suffering from morning sickness all day for 3 months while pregnant, I kept thinking... any day it's going to get better. I would try to wake up with a positive attitude, hoping that better days were ahead. Unfortunately, I experienced morning sickness up until the moment I delivered. I ran a business and shot just under 30 weddings and was sick the entire time. Through the grace of God I was able to persevere.
I find myself in a similar situation now with Evan's sleep... or lack thereof. Every day, every week, I keep hoping that it will get better and his 2-3 hour stretches will lead to 4-5 hour stretches, or better. But they don't.
My point is that when your hopes continue to get dashed, you become very discouraged. I am feeling discouraged, like we may never sleep again.
And this weekend is daylight savings time, which is exactly what we need, to lose an hour of sleep. Blah.

Took this image this morning, Ella loves to hold her baby brother.
Took this on Monday when the temperature reached 67 degrees! It was wonderful to get some fresh air, Craig and Ella were shoveling the last bit of snow/ice that was on the driveway. Little buddy was along for the ride.
Congratulations Rachel!
My good friend Rachel had her baby shower a few weeks ago. She and John are expecting their first, a boy, in mid-April. I wish them all the best, and hopefully some sleep!
