I really enjoy volunteering to take pictures for the yearbook via the PTA (mostly because the woman who chairs the yearbook committee is VERY together), but also because I get to attend all of the parties at Ella's school.
For the Valentine's Day parties, I was responsible for capturing the 6th graders. They don't have the traditional party with Valentine boxes, I assume because they are at that developmental age where things can get awkward, instead they get to play games and such. And let me tell you something... a gymnasium full of 6th graders playing dodgeball and basketball is LOUD. I mean, the type of loud that is deafening and can cause permanent hearing loss.
Anywho, my sweet Goddaughter Kennedy is in 6th grade (the smartest, prettiest, most well behaved 6th grader, I might add), and I caught up with her during the donut eating extravaganza. They had to attempt to eat a donut that was hanging from a string without using their hands.

Just look at her, poised as ever, even during this messy game.
And I'm not just bragging about her because she is the apple of my eye... I was shocked to see how sloppy many of the 6th graders dress. Pants that look like pajama's, frumpy t-shirts, messy hair, etc. I've taught Kennedy that it's important to always look your best, and her mom also does not put up with the sloppiness. As a result, she always looks good, is at the top of her class, and is involved in student government. Don't think how you look matters? Hoping that people won't judge a book by its cover? Well, it does, and they do. She is also very respected amongst her teachers.

I had an extra minute and decided to stop by Ella's classroom, this was her treat bag.

And her BFF, Rachel. (Of course I am also her BFF, but that goes without saying).
A classroom full of first graders is pretty loud as well, I had headache for two days.

It was a proud moment for me. I looked in her desk and found all the essentials... books, paper, pencil, eraser, and two shades of lip gloss. That's my girl (wiping a tear from my eye).
