Memorial Day

Mister loves to try to climb ladders, so he was pretty pleased when he spotted this one for the tree house.

Grandma with her wine.

Boy Boy had fun playing badminton with Aunt Rita.

Shay opted to spend most of the day in the tree house, away from the crazy dogs.

Later the kiddos took a canoe ride.

I didn't take a big group picture because I am a little disheartened at the attendance (or lack thereof). We have a very large family, and everyone used to make these picnics a priority. What happened? Too busy? Family not important anymore?

One day, these picnics will cease to exist... one day, we will no longer have grandma, and our own parents may even begin leaving us. Then what? I can promise that most of us will look back on these days and wish that we had spent more time together. Our family is given to us but for a season, and that season is always too short.

Ow-sigh

From the minute we arrive home, BB is saying, "ow-sigh, ow-sigh." He loves to be outside. Thankfully, the weather is starting to cooperate. This girl loves to strike a pose.

Daddy grabbed the camera to take some shots of my girl and I.

We were both wearing our pigtails.

Of course hers are much cuter than mine.

Ella took this of me using the 70-200 lens, have you ever held that sucker? It's HEAVY! In fact, she took an entire series... and the whole time she was saying, "you're so pretty mommy, look this way, you're so pretty." Totally working me. (I'm smack in the middle of the frame because I have not yet taught her how to focus then recompose).

BB wanted to play with Little, but she wasn't interested.

And he can't understand why.

I was hoping to get a few nice shots of the kiddos together, but we all know how that goes.

This is when I caught the drool series that I posted yesterday.

Aww, at least he gave her some love.

I asked him to give her a kiss, and he was actually puckering up, but refused to remove his paci.

Sissy tried to help him, but right after this shot he wondered off. Guess he had enough.

Heather's Hair Haven

You didn't know that I was a stylist? Oh yeah, I've been cutting this customer's hair for years.

And I make him look presentable every single time, yet he never pays. And the amount of ear and nose hair that I eliminate is staggering. And quite disgusting. I practically boil my hands afterward.

ps. I have no formal training in the art of hair stylifying (my word for cutting and styling). I just use trimmers with a #2 guard and go to town.

pps. For those of you that don't know, this is my dad.

From Ella

This was one of my many presents from Ella on Mother's Day.

In case you are wondering, it is sour cherry pie that I like so much. My parents have a sour cherry tree and when my mom makes her homemade pie, there is nothing in this world that is so delicious. It is my absolute favorite dessert. EVER.

I guess it's a good thing that I know adout my camera's, my girl clearly has faith in my abilities.

Ella's nickname is Goosie (has been since she was a tiny baby), but I like how she spells it Goosy. And yes, I say her name a lot. Especially when she isn't listening.

And I must admit that sleeping all day is something I wish for quite often.

My girl knows me all too well.

Happy Mother's Day!

I woke up to a scrumptious platter of blueberry pancakes, strawberries, and scrambled eggs in bed, it was heavenly! Craig and Ella had a bunch of wonderful gifts for me as well, it was a really special day. We went to church as usual and then mom and dad came over for dinner.

Mr. boy boy licious LOVES black beans, corn and tilapia.

Awwww, my sweet momma. Isn't she pretty?

After bribing him with chocolate, boy boy warmed up to Uh Mike. Problem is that he doesn't see Uh Mike very often, so he isn't sure about him when he arrives.

Sad really. These poor, sweet kiddos love their Uh Mike, yet they rarely see him.

Uh Mike was telling boy boy that he had to leave.

And boy boy was pleading with him to stay.

Even gave him some love (something he rarely does). But to no avail... as quickly as Uh Mike arrived, he was gone. Leaving his poor niece and nephew wondering when they might see him again.

It's that time of year!

My official wedding season kicks off tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! Of course you realize that the posts on this blog will become a little more infrequent as I will be spending my Saturday's shooting and my weekdays processing. Wonder if I could convince Craig to take things over for a bit? I'm sure that he would, but he would just post pictures, and I wouldn't want everyone to miss the conversations and stories they have become accustomed to. I mean, my stories about what boy boy is "saying" while he plays or eats chocolate are fascinating, right? Hello? Anyone? Mom?

Anyway, if I had a staff here at Weddings by Heather, I could surely get more done. I could use the following: another assistant shooter, a secretary, office manager, shipping manager, design consultant, etc. Anyone wanna work for free? I mean, things are happening at WBH, what an opportunity to witness the inner workings of a well oiled machine. Or maybe a barter? I love the barter, provided everyone feels that the services are of equal value.

ps. I realize that I didn't mention the picture that I posted, but I couldn't post without one.
